Moving art via the lagoons of Venice
When a valued partner from China needed the transport of 28 crates of artwork in Venice, the request arrived at Gosselin Italy at the very last minute. Thanks to the seamless collaboration between Gosselin’s branches and offices, the lead was quickly picked up and coordinated across teams.
The lead was forwarded to Italian colleague Barbara Savelli. Over the weekend, Barbara and her team mobilized the necessary resources, closed the deal on Sunday, and successfully launched the project by the next Wednesday.
“Perhaps the most challenging aspect was coordinating the crane operation while navigating Venice’s channels, bridges, and lagoon transport routes,” says Country Manager, Barbara. “It required a combination of loading and towing expertise, precise weight balancing, and the right equipment. With Venice exceptionally busy this time of year, organizing such a complex project on short notice was no small feat. Regulating the entire supply chain under tight deadlines is challenging, but that is exactly what Gosselin excels at.”
The assignment once again demonstrated Gosselin’s expertise in art logistics. Beyond providing secure art transport, Gosselin supported the customer with critical logistics services, including planning, time management, storage solutions, and the coordination of specialized equipment. Whether it’s last-minute or located in a challenging city, your travelling exhibition is in good hands with Gosselin and its global partner network.
