Moving diplomats internationally

Charged with a diplomatic move from Paris to Tashkent, Gosselin called on the services of Olivier, one of our experts for diplomatic moves. For those unfamiliar with Tashkent, it’s the capital of Uzbekistan, and is more than 6,000 km from Paris. It takes nearly nine hours to get there by plane.

From Paris to Tashkent: at home in unfamiliar places

“Gosselin moves embassy personnel all the time,” says Olivier. “And while diplomatic moves are often easier to handle than moves for corporations or private persons, moving to Tashkent is always going to be a challenge. You can’t just rent a van and do it yourself, even if you are only moving a small quantity of items.”

International moving companies

“First of all, these moves cannot be shipped by ocean freight, so they are handled via road transport. The transport travels through France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan before reaching its final destination in Uzbekistan. For the team waiting at the destination there is a lot of work involved, such as obtaining an exemption from import duties from the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Without it you cannot import your goods without having to pay taxes.”

Gosselin from start to finish for your international moves

“We are one of the only moving companies in Europe with a physical presence in both the countries of origin and destination,” Olivier adds. “And since Gosselin can handle the move from door to door, including all of the logistics and paperwork, it gives our clients peace of mind.”
There’s a lot of word-of-mouth advertisement among diplomats. Most of the new requests Olivier receives are due to a recommendation by one of his previous clients. “Diplomats always ask each other which moving company to use. This is why a client that has had a good experience with us is priceless.”
